What Can 6 Hours of Wedding Photography Cover?

When it comes to choosing 6 hour wedding coverage, you really need to think about your budget first and what parts of your wedding day matter the most to you. So, what can 6 hours actually cover without rushing? Typically, 6 hours can cover your ceremony, family photos after the ceremony, bridal party portraits, and couple portraits. In addition, it can also include some of your reception highlights like first dance or cake cutting. However, keep in mind that outdoor wedding locations in the Smoky Mountains often require driving. Traffic in East Tennessee can be no joke, especially during October peak season. Because of that, travel time between locations can easily add extra time to your timeline.

When 6 Hours of Wedding Photography Is Usually Enough

Usually, 6 hours works best when everything happens in one location. For example, when getting ready, ceremony, and reception all take place at the same venue, your timeline becomes much easier to manage. Additionally, smaller bridal parties require less time for photos. Knoxville weddings with an earlier ceremony time also tend to work very well with 6 hours of coverage, especially if you don’t plan to have a grand exit at the end of the night.

When 6 Hours May NOT Be Enough

On the other hand, 6 hours may not be enough for larger weddings. For example, many church ceremonies require couples to drive from a hotel to the ceremony and then to the reception venue afterward. I’ve photographed weddings where couples had to get ready at the hotel, drive to the church, and then drive back to the venue. Additionally, some weddings include lots of traditions, dances, or cultural ceremonies which naturally take more time. Furthermore, if you want full getting ready coverage and prefer not to rush through your once-in-a-lifetime celebration, you may need more coverage.
