A Knoxville Wedding at The Grand Victorian: Meadow & Colston’s Dream Day
Let me tell you about one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever worked with—Meadow and Colston. When they chose me as their wedding photographer, I felt like the luckiest person. Not only are they incredibly kind and down-to-earth, but they’re also both from Knoxville, TN, and proud University of Tennessee grads. So when Meadow first reached out about their Knoxville wedding at The Grand Victorian, I just knew it was going to be something really special. Spoiler alert: it absolutely was.
Planning with Heart (and Help from Mom & AJ)
Meadow and Colston didn’t do this alone. Their moms played a huge role in helping them plan every last detail. On top of that, they brought in the amazing wedding planner AJ—who, let me tell you, is a total legend. Every time I see AJ, she’s either setting something up, fixing something, or just making magic happen. We even laughed about how she never stops moving. She brought such calm, professional energy to the day, and honestly, it made all the difference.
Engagement Photos at the Grand Victorian
Since Meadow and Colston picked The Grand Victorian for their venue, we thought—why not do their engagement photos there too? Engagement sessions are the best way to really connect with your photographer and get comfortable before the big day. Meadow wore this stunning ruffled dress, and Colston rocked cream pants with a crisp white button-up. They looked so good together. I left that session thinking, “This wedding is going to be next-level.”

The Whisky Bottle Weather Hack That Worked
Now here’s the fun part. During their engagement shoot, Colston told me about a Southern tradition I’d never heard of before. Apparently, if you bury a bottle of whisky at your venue before your wedding day, it brings good weather. I thought it was hilarious—but they went for it! And guess what? It actually worked. It had rained nonstop in Knoxville since April, but on their wedding day? Not a single drop. Their Knoxville wedding turned out sunny and perfect.
Summer Southern Charm at Its Finest
Everything about the day screamed summer charm. Meadow chose the dreamiest colors that looked like they came straight out of a Martha Stewart magazine. Her modern and elegant gown turned heads, and her flowers—designed by Petals Florist—were bursting with vibrant colors. The bridesmaids wore pink and blue floral dresses that looked straight-up summery perfection. It honestly felt like a scene from “Southern Charm.”
That Romantic Lake Moment
Okay, my absolute favorite part? Hands down—the boat photos. Yep, you read that right. We took a little rowboat out on the lake for portraits, and I swear it felt like a scene from The Notebook. So romantic, so peaceful, and so them. I still get chills thinking about those shots!
Dancing the Night Away
When it came time to party, their DJ didn’t hold back. The energy at the reception was off-the-charts fun. Meadow, Colston, and their friends danced all night long. And yes, the moment Rocky Top played, the whole place went wild. It felt like the perfect ending to their perfect Knoxville wedding.
