Nichols Heir Grand Hall Wedding Venue | An Epic Arabic Engagement in the Smoky Mountains

January 31, 2025

If you’re searching for a modern Smoky Mountain wedding venue with beautiful mountain views, bright interiors, and plenty of space for an unforgettable celebration, Nichols Heir Grand Hall deserves a spot on your list. I recently photographed Hiba and Omar’s Arabic engagement celebration here, and honestly, calling it an engagement almost doesn’t feel like enough. This celebration had everything you would expect from an incredible wedding—and then some!

From their traditional Islamic engagement ceremony to an epic Dabke entrance, nonstop dancing, an incredible Mediterranean dinner, a gold ceremony, and one of the biggest cakes I have ever photographed, this day was unforgettable.

Nichols Heir Grand Hall: A Beautiful Smoky Mountain Wedding Venue

One of the first things I noticed about Nichols Heir Grand Hall was how bright, white, and clean the entire space felt. The neutral design creates a beautiful backdrop for almost any wedding color palette or décor style. It also photographs incredibly well, especially when you add colorful florals, candles, gold details, and elegant tablescapes.

The venue also offers plenty of room for both sides of the wedding party to get ready. The large bridal suite gives the bride and her girls space for hair, makeup, getting dressed, and those fun getting-ready photographs. Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen have their own separate space.

Outside, the Smoky Mountain scenery gives couples even more photography options. We saved some time at the end of Hiba and Omar’s celebration for portraits near the venue’s sunset spot. We only had a little light left, but the results turned out absolutely beautiful.

Hiba and Omar’s Traditional Arabic Engagement Ceremony

Hiba and Omar began their celebration with a traditional engagement ceremony and blessings from a sheikh. I love photographing multicultural and traditional weddings because every celebration tells a completely different story. These meaningful traditions make the photographs even more special for the couple and their families.

After the ceremony, Hiba and Omar changed into their second outfits—and they looked incredible.

Hiba wore a gorgeous custom-made dress from Turkey with beautiful details that photographed perfectly inside the Grand Hall. Omar complemented her look with an elegant brown suit. Together, they looked absolutely stunning.

And then the real party started!

An Epic Dabke Grand Entrance at Nichols Heir

Their grand entrance might have been my favorite part of the entire day.

Dabke dancers opened the way as Hiba and Omar made their entrance down the stairs toward their guests. Everyone danced, cheered, and celebrated around them. The energy completely filled the Grand Hall.

After their entrance, the traditional dancing continued for what felt like 30 minutes straight. The music was loud, the dance floor stayed packed, and everyone brought an incredible amount of energy.

As a Knoxville wedding photographer, I absolutely love Arabic music, and this celebration took it to another level! I was genuinely impressed by how much everyone danced and celebrated without alcohol. The atmosphere felt joyful, energetic, and completely focused on Hiba and Omar.

Mediterranean Dinner and a Beautiful Gold Ceremony

After all that dancing, everyone was ready for dinner.

The Mediterranean spread was incredible. Guests enjoyed kebabs, chicken, lamb, dolma, hummus, salads, and so many other dishes. Everything looked and smelled amazing, and yes—the food was just as delicious as it looked!

Following dinner, Hiba and Omar continued with a traditional gold ceremony.

And when I say gold, I mean SO much gold!

I don’t think I have ever photographed that much gold in one place. It created such a beautiful and meaningful part of their celebration, and Hiba looked absolutely gorgeous wearing it. Photographing traditions like this is one of my favorite parts of being a Tennessee wedding photographer.

The Biggest Engagement Cake I Have Ever Seen

Of course, a celebration this big needed a cake to match. Hiba and Omar’s cake was enormous—probably the biggest cake I have photographed at a wedding or engagement celebration. It made such a statement inside the reception space and looked beautiful surrounded by all of the elegant décor. My only regret from the entire evening? I left before trying a piece!

Sunset Wedding Photos in the Smoky Mountains

Before I left, we stepped outside for a few final portraits. Nichols Heir offers a beautiful sunset photo location with a Smoky Mountain view, which gives couples a completely different look from the bright, elegant photographs inside the Grand Hall. We caught the very last bit of evening light, and somehow it made everything even more romantic. After such an energetic celebration, ending the evening outside with Hiba and Omar for quiet sunset portraits felt perfect.

Those final photographs became some of my favorites from the entire day.

Planning a Nichols Heir Grand Hall Wedding?

If you are considering Nichols Heir Grand Hall for your wedding in the Smoky Mountains, the venue offers so much variety for photography. You can create bright, elegant indoor portraits, document getting ready in separate bridal and groom spaces, photograph a large reception and dance floor, and then step outside for romantic mountain and sunset portraits.

Hiba and Omar’s Arabic engagement showed just how incredible this venue can look when you fill it with family, traditions, music, dancing, beautiful décor, and so much happiness.

This is exactly why I love photographing Arabic weddings, multicultural weddings, and traditional celebrations in Tennessee. Every tradition brings something meaningful and unique to the story.

Congratulations, Hiba and Omar! What an unforgettable night at Nichols Heir Grand Hall in the Smoky Mountains. I cannot wait to photograph more celebrations like this one.
