Sunrise elopement at Cades Cove

Sunrise Elopement at Cades Cove. Ashley and Garrett

January 31, 2025

Dreaming of a Sunrise Elopement

Ashley first reached out to me on Instagram months before her big day. From the very beginning, she knew exactly what she wanted—an intimate sunrise elopement in Cades Cove. Honestly, I couldn't have been more excited! Sunrise in the Smokies means soft light, quiet trails, and the beauty of having the whole valley to yourself.

Planning the Morning

Because there's no cell service inside the cove, we planned to meet in Townsend and drive in together. At 6:30 a.m., I pulled into the Jeep Outpost store parking lot, and there was Ashley—glowing in her bridal robe with the sweetest smile. Her sisters, mom, and dad came along to support her, while Garrett arrived with his family by his side.

Driving into the Cove

We all caravanned toward the mountains, and as soon as we entered Cades Cove, I knew the morning would be unforgettable. The early fall air felt crisp and chilly, and a thick blanket of fog floated across the fields. The sun hadn't quite broken through yet, so everything looked soft, peaceful, and almost otherworldly.

The Sweetest Ceremony in the Fog

At a quiet overlook, Ashley slipped into her gown while her sisters helped adjust her veil and shoes. The mist lingered across the fields, wrapping the mountains in a mystical glow. Garrett walked ahead, and then Ashley's dad proudly escorted her down to him. That moment felt surreal—just us, surrounded by fog, in the middle of Cades Cove. Her dad also officiated the ceremony, which made everything even more personal. When they said their vows, you could feel the joy ripple through their families.

Exploring the Cove Together

After the ceremony, we explored more of Cades Cove for portraits and family photos. We stopped at the historic cabins and even wandered near Lequire Cemetery, where the fog made everything look like a scene from a fairytale. And just when I thought the morning couldn't get more magical, we spotted a huge bear strolling across the field in the distance! It truly felt like nature was celebrating with us.

A Joyful Celebration

Ashley and Garrett shared their first brunch as a married couple with their families at Five Oaks Farm Kitchen in Pigeon Forge. I loved that they chose brunch—it fit perfectly after such an early morning. And here's the sweetest part: Ashley was in her first trimester of pregnancy, so this day wasn't just about a wedding. It was about starting their family's next chapter.

Wrapping Up an Unforgettable Morning

By the time I got home, I couldn't resist diving right into their photos, even though I had been awake since 4 a.m. The images felt too special to wait on. Ashley's message later made my heart so full—she told me the photos were everything she had hoped for. That morning in Cades Cove wasn't just an elopement; it was pure magic with one of the kindest families I've ever met.
