The best PLACE to elope in the Smoky Mountains
December 12, 2024
East Tennessee is home to beautiful, diverse, and heartfelt nature. It is absolutely one of my favorite elopement destinations. Here, you can find stunning mountains, rivers, and beautiful waterfalls. My favorite part is that it’s conveniently located, easily accessible, and the best part is that it’s free! The only thing you need is a parking pass, which you can easily obtain at the Visitor Center or purchase online at www.nps.gov .
If you decide to tie the knot here, you’ll need a permit, which you can also find on the same website. It’s recommended to apply for it at least two weeks before your elopement or intimate wedding. Personally, I suggest applying a little earlier just to be safe. The permit price is $100.
Now, let’s explore some amazing places where you can elope or have an intimate wedding! There are so many beautiful options to choose from, like Foothills Parkway, Cades Cove, Greenbrier, Newfound Gap, Cataract Falls, Chimney Tops Picnic Area, Gatlinburg Bypass Overlook, Metcalf Bottoms, or even a cozy cabin with a mountain view deck. You can find all of these locations on the Smoky Mountains official website. Each spot has its own unique beauty, and while some may require more driving, like Cades Cove, others, like Cataract Falls, are much closer.
If you’re looking for a chapel, consider Cupid’s Chapel of Love. If you’d like to have a larger wedding with a reception, there are plenty of affordable wedding venues, such as Magnolia, Trillium, Dancing Bear Lodge, or Willow Ridge Weddings and Events. Just keep in mind that most of these locations don’t have cell service, so it’s important to plan ahead. Allow plenty of time to get there, especially since traffic can be heavy, particularly in the fall.
One of the best parts about eloping in the Smokies is the chance to connect with nature and each other in such a beautiful setting. Imagine exchanging vows surrounded by towering trees, vibrant wildflowers, and the soothing sounds of nature. Whether you choose a mountaintop vista or a peaceful riverbank, each location offers a unique backdrop that will make your day special. No matter which spot you choose, it will be perfect and unforgettable. Just make sure to plan everything with the help of professional planners or by yourself, and most importantly, enjoy your special day! Your elopement in the Smokies is a chance to create beautiful memories that you will cherish forever. Happy planning!
